Kalamazoo Boat Show Recap
Round Lake Conversations. Real Decisions.
Each winter, the Kalamazoo Boat Show gives us the opportunity to reconnect with families from across Southwest Michigan, Northern Indiana, and Illinois who are planning their next season on the water.
This year’s conversations were focused and intentional.
Families were not just asking about horsepower or color combinations. They were asking better questions.
What model fits our lake size
How much ballast do we actually need
What wave shape works best for our riders
How do we design a boat that will serve us five to ten years from now
Those are the right questions.
The Shift We’re Seeing
More families are approaching boat ownership with a long term mindset.
Instead of chasing the biggest boat on the floor, buyers are thinking about:
• Crew size
• Lake depth and length
• Storage limitations
• Rider progression goals
• Resale value
• Engine selection
• Wave performance consistency
That shift is encouraging.
It means buyers want clarity before commitment.
Nautique Performance Conversations
As a Nautique representative in Sister Lakes, we spent time walking families through:
Model comparisons across the G Series, S Series, and GS Series
Ballast strategy and wake configuration
Lake compatibility considerations
Storage and lift setup
Long term ownership planning
The goal is never to oversell.
The goal is to match the right boat to the right lake and the right family.
Lessons First. Boats Second.
One consistent theme we saw at the show was this:
Many families begin with lessons before they upgrade their boat.
That progression makes sense.
Structured coaching improves rider ability.
Improved riders understand what they actually need from a boat.
Clear understanding leads to smarter purchases.
It all connects.
What Happens Next
If you visited us at the show, thank you for the conversation.
If you are still evaluating models, wave setup, or lake compatibility, the next step is simple:
Schedule a Nautique Design Session.
These sessions are structured conversations focused on your lake, your crew, and your long term goals. We walk through model selection, wake characteristics, ballast configuration, and ownership considerations with clarity.
No pressure. Just informed decision making.
Planning for the Season Ahead
As we move toward summer on Round Lake and throughout Southwest Michigan, availability tightens quickly for:
Private wakeboard lessons
Wakesurf coaching
Youth wakeboard camp
Nautique design consultations
If this is the year you plan to ride more intentionally or upgrade your boat, now is the time to start that conversation.
